This item is very nice and clean. It is new. It is very attractive and Yamaha has made it to a modern standard. They call it a “fife”, like the thing Yankee Doodle was listening to when he named his feather “Macaroni”. I want to try and learn how to play a flute, now if we might be able to order an instructor at the same price and shipping…

    A good Yamaha product.

I bought this Flute hoping to play it for fun. Even though I have not been able to blow a single note yet and I have tried, I do know that you can rely on Yamaha for quality products. I even went to YOUTUBE to learn how to blow but it is not as easy as it looks. As a child ages 9-16 I played the Sax and Trumpet in school but then switched to guitar. But the Flute is quit different. It will be easy for some but this old boy is going to try the Recorder's next.

  • Very pleasant instrument, would recommend very much for beginners

I was a complete newbie and wanted something cheap to figure out if I would be into flute playing before dishing out a large amount of money. I have to say, I think the Yamaha fife was a great decision. The mold is so beautiful that I don't feel like I've settled for a cheapo dumb instrument. The fingering chart that's included is easy do understand and very, very helpful. The sound of the fife is also very pleasant and sounds much better in real life than in the videos I watched prior to purchasing. My only problem is that some of the notes are identical for both octaves and they sound the same which is unpleasant for certain songs, but it still a very, very good instrument to start with and to test out flute playing.

  • Good value

Nicely made. It has flute fingering so it’s not a real fife. F# is the only weak note and it is a little off. Otherwise all is good.

  • Good starter flute for those with small hands and arms.

An inexpensive way for a grade school student to start working on flute technique. Especially good for children who can not easily stretch fingers to reach all the keys on a standard flute.
