We are a tone-tailor, in that we tailor your tone for your ear. I have ended up with nine different chorus pedals setting in the case to be tested for various types of music and general application. This pedal, the Boss CE-2, is the original one-and-only; nothing else sounds as good. It is thick and lush without being overbearing and the sound of each string is still well respected. The CE-2 is the chorus by which all others should be judged. Only much more expensive units, many of which are rack-mount, are even in the same league. If you are strictly a pedal guy, you will find no better tone in a chorus. It is not stereo, which was the only knock on it "back in the day", but the CE-3 stereo replacement is an embarrassment by comparison.
Hello... This pedal kicks _ss!!!! If you didn"t know already, this is the only thing that the great "Johnny Winter" uses, and if you want to get that sound from an earlier era such as the master "Frank Marino" just plug it in, turn the knobs straight up to the twelve o'clock position, throw on a little distortion and you got it... Now you're ready to rip into "The Answer", "A New Rock and Roll" or maybe some blues like "I'm a King Bee"!!! I used to use this pedal playing live back in the seventies and eighties and when I bought this one, it brought back some old licks that I had forgotten I had!!! Great pedal and thanks to the dude I bought it from. By the way, I use it with my 1961 Les Paul, my old SG and my Fender Strat, sounds great on all my guitars!!! Jam on... Rob
I believe it’s a five star product because one I’m a fan of the bus lineup and also because it’s a 40 year old vintage pedal and also my first time having a CE – two chorus pedal as I have already had the MXR M234 Chorus and currently have the Ibanez CS9 stereo, chorus pedal and while each chorus is not the same Some may sound very subtle and warm. Some have a higher frequency in stereo but a lot more brighter and a lot more lush. Overall, it gives me the vintage 1980s sound and I am very happy with it and I’m sure that puddle it’s gonna be worth a lot more and I am quite happy with it as it has the overall better warm and sub to sound that I like from Leslie to the police and many others

got my 1st 1 in '82...used it till it died-on my board from portland maine 2 L.A. back down thru Texas..evetually back in Va. finally died in 2007-promptly got the 1 i currently use off ebay from a guy in Canada...this is analog-not digital! so yeah it's limited, but that's the point...analog is "warm",digital is "cold"...PERIOD-read the great 1's-EVH,VAI,SATCH,etc. comes down 2 ur ear...what do u want? if u like analog chorus ala Gilmore etc. then get 1 of these!!! if u don't mind processed, then go w/digital...it ain't rocket science nor supernatural...if u r happy it'll show in ur playing!!!
I have been looking to buy this guitar pedal for several years. I've been playing guitar for 20 years and I have grown into a sucker for tone. What used to turn me on when I was younger was huge digital multi-effect processors that sounded quite cheesy. I sacrificed quality for quantity. The older I got the more I respected the true tone that legends are made of. So after research, I narrowed it down to the best chorus pedal ever made. The Boss CE-2. It has, hands down, the clearest, warmest and most vibrant tone of any chorus pedal I've ever heard. I finally found the one I wanted on ebay. When I received it, it was the first time I actually played through one. And it was an audio adrenaline high I've never experienced!
Very nice CE-2, and working as expected. shipment was fast and item was packaged appropriately. Item has a few ting dents on the edges and side, but that expected since its coming all the way back from the Best Years in Music and Moves - 1980s I love the sound this Chorus CE-2 vs My Chorus Ensemble CE-2. I set the Rate Knob at about 11 o'clock and the Depth at say 3 min after 12 o'clock. Playing the B, G & E string closer to the bridge on my Epiphone Les Paul Custom PRO just give that sweet mellow Sting & The Police or Men at Work sound - I looooove iiiiiiitt !!!!!!! I have attached photos of CE-2 and the CE-5. CE-2 is the Made in Japan Black Label

I own several new and vintage chorus pedals, and was excited to finally get my hands on one of these. I was prepared for it to at least be on par with some of my other favorite chorus pedals, but it took moments to hear that this pedal easily lives up to the history that precedes it. The effect has zero volume decrease and a pronounced mid push that really makes your guitar tone stand out and truly defines the era it came from. Beyond satisfied and worth the price if you're a fan of the effect.

I had a CE-2 back when they were new. About a year later I got rid of it to get something newer/better. Then just recently I bought another CE-2 because I needed a chorus pedal that takes up less space than my Line 6 MM4. Is the CE-2 a fantastic pedal (as legend has it)? In my opinion, no. Is there something mystical about the chorus effect it produces? No. The MM4 is better. What it is, is easy to use and small. The biggest problem with vintage pedals is that the on/off switch gets cranky and fails to turn the thing on and off, and frankly, that pisses me of when it happens, and mine does that. There is good news in this situation however. I will sell this pedal for more than I paid for it because it's "vintage" and people will think there is something very special about it. In my experience (47 years on stage) vintage does not often = better, but almost always = profit.Read full review
for the price you can't beat it. sounds great with my strat. the speed is a little limited in terms of range and the input jack is sticky on mine, but the sound is excellent.. if it really is handmade, it's an incredible deal. would recommend. thanks for the great pedal!

I’ve tried many chorus pedals, but i come back to the CE-2. It is simple and easy to use. It doesn’t do a lot of different things, but it is extremely good at what it does.
