    Excellent Exotic Historical Drama set in Ancient Rome around the time of Julius Caesar and Augustus.

    Excellent HBO drama. Realistic, dramatic, engaging. Good value. Recommended! The two core characters are a pair of Roman Legionaries. One embodies all the virtues expected of the ideal Roman Citizen and soldier. Brave. Incorruptible. Loyal. The other is brave, randy, and an opportunist, he's a survivor but honest and very loyal in his own way. The plot of the series follows the rise and fall of Julius Ceasar and the rise and rise of Augustus, Caesar's adopted son and heir. A cast of hundreds - all good - with many speaking roles and characters continuing for many episodes gives excellent continuity and realism to the series. Suspense a plenty. Some similarities to Game of Thrones and other HBO classic series. Whoever is in charge of organsing these drama series at HBO deserves an ...

They encounter war, political twists, assassinations, family tragedies and more, while surrounded by historical figures such as Gaius Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, Gaius Octavian and Cleopatra
