I pulled the thread on my motorcycle exhaust manifold and was about to give it up! Then after some rattling my brains i remembered my old mate had used this thing called helicoil to repair a spark plug thread! I phoned him to see if i could borrow his set and he sent me the item number for this set and said it's ideal for me with the common sizes and the sort of things I'm doing! Great design, poor quality.
The tools worked great...for about 5 minutes. The coil-insert tool bent after a couple uses. The coils itself were of poor quality. Many of them broke during installation. I would recommend going gor the real deal; Helicoils.

For the price it is good
I needed to repair a stripped M6 bolt hole in small alloy crankcase. The main brand products were expensive and while I only needed an M6 insert the additional cost for this set wasn’t great so decided to get it. It arrived quickly. I’ve used it and it cut the tread and was able to fit the insert and it took the M6 bolt and is holding. So a success. This is good value and so useful when needed. It is made fairly well & comes in a metal box, keeping the kit altogether. In use, the tools perform as they should, the Helicoil locates in its threads to an exact fit. The fastner fits into the Helicoil accurately, and is firm & robust in place. All in , this will get you out of trouble, particularly with aluminium components that is easier to work with. A good kit, worth having, if only ever used occasionaly. Spare Helicoils can be readily be sourced.This is good value and so useful when needed. It is made fairly well & comes in a metal box, keeping the kit altogether.
