About this product

Product Information

Director Tommy O'Haver's (BILLY'S HOLLYWOOD SCREEN KISS) sophomore effort is a breezy teen romance that injects a much needed jolt of wit and energy into an overworked genre. Ben Foster (FREAKS AND GEEKS) stars as Berke, a fairly nondescript basketball player whose romance with the beautiful Allison (Melissa Sagemiller) has made him the happiest man in school as well as the envy of his classmates. Unfortunately, Allison doesn't feel the same way and dumps him in the opening minutes of the film. Determined to win her back, Berke auditions for the high school play, "A Midsummer Night's Rockin' Dream," in which Allison has snagged the lead role. Thwarting his hopes of reconciliation is the guy that Allison just started dating, Striker, a transfer student who heads a semi-famous boy band and sports a laughable European accent. Enlisting the help of his best friend's sister, Kelly (Kirsten Dunst), Berke tries to rehearse for the play and finds his emotions caught between his past with Allison and his burgeoning feelings for Kelly. Sweet and funny (especially during Martin Short's appearances as the play's name-dropping director), GET OVER IT is an excellent teen film bolstered by an exceptional cast.

    Just ok

The movie itself was just okay. Not bad, not great. I was amazed at how well Kirsten dunst could sing. It's a shame she doesn't sing more often.

  • Breathing life into William Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream"

This is an average "teen movie" with actors in their mid twenties and above pretending to be teens. It's a love story set around the theme of William Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Kirsten Dunst gives a convincing performance in this movie. Her facial resemblance to Emily Deschanel from the television series "Bones" is uncanny in my humble opinion. Sisqo is surprisingly brilliant as an actor in this film. Mila Kunis disappointingly shows she will go beyond any limits to be famous and her role in this film sadly isn't memorable beyond that of being desperate to be famous at any cost. I like this attempt to bring William Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream" into the current realm of relevance or existentialism, much like the 1987 film Roxanne starring Steve Martin ...

  • A very funny, and very underrated movie...

Another movie that my daughter stole from my collection... Refreshing and unexpected comedy that on the surface looks like just another coming of age, teen-angst movie. This movie is especially funny for kids (or adults) who have been involved in theatre performaces in high school or community theatre. This is a mindless comedy, so don't expect much in the way of deep meaning. Plot Summary: A very simple base story about a teen breakup and re-falling in love... Includes the obligatory embarassing parents, and adolescent oversexed-dog humor... The best part of the movie is in the deadpan Berke Landers, who is rejected by long-time girlfriend Allison. Over the top performance by Martin Short as the drama teacher/director make the school-play into the real centerpiece for this story. What ...

  • Good product - but I'm not sure Shakespeare would appreciate the adaptation

Silly, but somehow still entertaining. I'm a fan of Shakespeare and originally bought the movie to show my junior high students a different interpretation of A Midsummer Night's Dream. And the bizarre fashions/hair styles of the nineties (i.e. Sisqo's hair). I'm reminded of another movie in my collection - Whatever It Takes with James Franco and Shane West. I miss these kinds of teen rom-com movies. They're probably still being made, but I guess I'm just too old to appreciate them in the same way.

  • Memories

So happy to find this movie in great condition! Brought back memories frim 20 years ago.
