    Bought this item to replace the existing brake light switch incase that was the cause of auto gearbox lever not moving out of park. It was a pergect fit and took only a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, it did not resolve the problem, no fault of this part.

    Genuine BMW part

    Yes you can buy cheaper Chinese versions of this switch, but I'd rather use genuine knowing that it will fit and work without any headaches! Slightly modified version to the original as it now has a plastic sleeve instead of a metal one (so shouldn't grow onto the rear wiper spindle) Would recommend.

    Not bad but not brilliant

    Bought this under 12 months ago and it’s already stopped working. I’ll admit it cheaper than an oem part but less than 12 months use!!!’ Started going wrong by self opening just as you got into the car and shut the drivers door, so it ended up as a race from unlocking the car to the boot glass opening to getting in the car and locking the doors. This was the only way to stop it popping open the rear glass. After a couple of weeks of this it packed up completely and now doesn’t work at all!!

    Genuine item. Well made. Arrived quickly. Expensive, for what is basically a plastic catch, but as cheap as I could find on the web. New part no longer has the internal metal collar, which is a good thing, as the old one had seized on my E91 and required a pair of mole grips to rotate the old catch off without damaging the tailgate glass.

    So far, so good

    Not an OEM part, but cost effective and works fine. Time will tell if the rubber seal that sits between the switch and the glass properly repels water. In all other respects it appears to be the same as the OEM part.

    Works well

    Part delivered on time. Garage charged £40 to fit. Tailgate problem appears to now be sorted. This item comes with a thicker rubber seal to prevent water ingress which is the root cause of the problem. So the part supplied has sorted the problem out.
