An amazing adventure in friendship against hardship and real horror.
It's hard to imagine what life was like back then. No that's wrong, it's impossible. Thankfully we have Sven's books to tell us. Reading this book makes you feel and care for this band of soldiers as if you are fighting along side them. It takes in the absurdity of war in all it's many forms and does not shy away from describing the vivid horror they experienced. The language can be a little difficult to follow for an English speaker at times as the author was a Dane who spoke German. How ever this is a minor issue and adds some colour to the book. I never got on with Catch 22 but I highly recommend Svens books. Once you have read one, you'll want to read the next...EnjoyIt's hard to imagine what life was like back then.
