  • Great film if you love Urban dance films

I purchased Stomp the Yard, because I love dance/musical films from Singing in the Rain to contemporary films such as Save the Last Dance. I saw a trailer of this film on YouTube and became really interested in watching it Stomp The Yard is like previous dance films such as Honey, Step Up, What sets this film apart from the rest is that it uses line dancing. It introduces a dance tradition at Black Universities named ‘Stepping’ in the film it seems to insinuate that there is a historical significance to the art form but is never addressed STY is light hearted entertaining film but it is your typical urban dance film where its one dance group competing with another dance group. The DVD came in great condition, there were no scratches and no marks and no jumps when the film was playing I ...

  • Brilliant!!!

I bought this film through reccommendation from a friend. My only expectation was the fit men in the film - wasn't disappointed on that front!! - But the film was brilliant! There were one or two icky moments, which is what i would expect from a film of this nature. But they're not bad enough for them spoil the film. Main character Dj, moves to Atlanta to start at Truth University to start a new life, after witnessing the death of his brother. At first he is at odds with the move, not wanting to be there, feeling out of place. He quickley spies a potential love interest and tries to gain favour with her until he runs up against her current boyfriend!! The plot isn't amazing the messages and battle scenes are brilliant. If you love dance movies like step up, Honey that are more urban ...

  • Stomp the Yard

For those that have loved 'Save The Last Dance', 'Honey' and 'Step Up', this film will no doubt exceed your expectations! DJ (Columbus Short) is an amazing street, free-style dancer, sadly from the death of his brother after a dance "battle" is thrown out of the ghetto and into a world of wealth, education and rules. Not long after DJ falls for fellow girl on campus April (Meagan Good), who is the Headmasters daughter. He soon learns of "Stepping" and the Fraternity way of life, similar to the brotherhood he misses from home. Therefore, it's not long before he joins up and switches his lonesum "battling" for group "Stepping". As with any good dance film, there is a National Step Championship building up for the end of the film, with a few twists and turns leading to the final showdown ...
