An Outstanding product
This is not particularly cheap but it is a large jar and lastsa long while. Even it goes a bit dry you can revive it with some turps. I have had some jars for years It comes in a wide range of different shades including one that looks like patinated bronze. I find that the easiest way to apply it is with a fingertip which burnishes at the same time.(Obviously this makes you mucky , but it will come with turps sub).All colours can be mixed. The effect is much better than paint as it has depth and doesn't look fake. If the object you have gilded is going to be rubbed , for example, the back of a chair,it will wear off unless you fix it by varnishing it, This is not necessary on a frame, the gilt will harden off.This is not particularly cheap but it is a large jar and lastsa long while. Useful restoration and crafting product.
Was recommended this by my brother for a antique french chair restoration project,looks very authentic as it blends in with original finish.Ideal for a slightly worn effect if desired as it will/can be worn off on high wear areas of furniture.Easy to apply and a little goes a long way,it might require a drop of artists turpentine if applying thinly with brush, just mix a very small amount of gilding cream in a separate container. Useful restoration and crafting product,lots of different mediums it can be used for.Gives a softer look than metallic foils.
