a GG fan must have

Guilty Gear Judgment is your modern day Streetfighter, except for the fact that Streetfighter does it better. Guilty Gear Judgment is actually one game split into two: Guilty Gear Judgment and Guilty Gear X2. Since both games have the same characters, it would be better to consider them two separate modes of the same game. In Guilty Gear Judgment you have the option of playing Survival mode or Story mode. Despite there being a "story mode" I would hardly classify the story mode as one of substance. With its 2D graphics, you slide across the screen from the left to right, destroying your enemies or opponents one at a time or several at a time. Your opponents are usually the same; there is little variation in what you're fighting from stage to stage. Once you clear a stage, the only thing ... Guilty Gear Judgment is your modern day Streetfighter, except for the fact that Streetfighter does it better. Once you clear a stage, the only thing that actually progresses the story is about 15-30 seconds of on-screen dialogue at the start of each new stage. You're not afforded voice acting, this is strictly on-screen dialogue. You continue your way through the cycle: first, the on-screen dialogue to progress the story. second, the 2D fighting across the screen until you clear the stage. And that's about it. Two steps in the cycle that repeat each other over and over. You do have the option of choosing one of five characters in story mode but it makes little difference because the gameplay in all of them are the same. Guilty Gear X2 can be considered the arcade version of Guilty Gear Judgment. Here's where you can engage in a co-op, survival mode, training mode and more. Controls are the same, characters are the same, stages are not. Instead of moving from left to right to access new areas, you're stuck in one specific area the entire mode. Much like Streetfighter, you must fight your opponents in survival mode to clear the stage. Each stage has four rounds but the idea is to kill your opponent twice to gather the win. Once you win, you move on to another character in the line up and go on to fight them. Sound effects. Well, to be frank, there's little in this game to put sound effects to. Since the characters only speak in survival mode (Japanese at that), there's little need for voice acting. Sound effects of fighting are average at best but the rock music playing in the background seems to be enough to get you pumped up. This is a game that lacks any real substance. Yes, there's a story mode. However, I would hardly consider the story to be a story - it's more of an excuse to fight than it is a fundamental core building block. This is definitely a game that you can pick up and put down without blinking twice. When you leave and come back to play it later, you won't have to remember what you were doing or how the controls work because the game itself is so simple. You may find this game enjoyable for 5 minutes, 15 minutes, an hour or three, but it ceases to be fun when the game starts to feel repetitive. The one major salvaging point is that the PSP game manages to pull off some awesome anime graphics with great title scenes and music. Outside of that, however, there is little else to this game; it simply isn't worth buying or even renting (unless you're into these exact types of games). Be sure to pass this game up and save your money for something else.

Tasty adventure into the gulity gear series. Lacks Plot
The game is fun! With a friend it would be *more* fun. However, ultimately, if you are looking for an adventure into a well rounded, plot filled world.... look elsewhere. This is a great game in terms of old school fighters. It helps recapture the days lost in the arcades, throwing quarters into machines for a few rounds of glory. I would suggest this for anyone who waxes nostalgic about times such as those. I felt that the game lacked depth in any way, but was fun to play.The game is fun! With a friend it would be *more* fun. Guilty Gear Judgment is my first game in the Guilty Gear franchise. For those of you that don't know what Guilty Gear is, it's a fighting game franchise by a company called Arc Systems Works. The series is popular for it's detailed anime-style graphics, original characters, hard rock/heavy metal soundtrack, unique gameplay, and it's numerous references to rock and heavy metal music as well as its Gothic nature. This Guilty Gear game has 2 games on here, Guilty Gear Judgment and the Xbox version of Guilty Gear X2. Both games are fun to play, even though there are some problems in the gameplay department. Guilty Gear Judgment plays like your 2D side-scrolling beat-em-up game like Final Fight, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe. This certain is fun to play but after the first 2 stages, the game ... This certain is fun to play but after the first 2 stages, the game does get repetitive. The missions are just about set up the same and there is not a lot of monster variety. But that said, Guilty Gear Judgment can be a fun beat-em-up game. This game also comes with Guilty Gear X2 Reload, the original Xbox version of Guilty Gear X2 that was originally released on the Playstation 2. That game is more fun then Judgment. This PSP version of the Guilty Gear X2 lacks some modes that were in the Xbox version like the story mode and such. That doesn't bother me because I never played the original Xbox version of this particular of this game and I never experienced those modes that were in the Xbox version and weren't on the PSP version. The problem I have with Guilty Gear X2 is that the final boss, I-No, is extremely cheap. She is one of those bosses in which you can't beat, just like Geese Howard from Fatal Fury. Both games support Ad-hoc multiplayer, so you and a buddy can compete in Gulty Gear X2 or be cooperative in Guilty Gear Judgment. I think online play for both games would have made this game better. The graphics look amazing for a 2D series. This is probably one of the best looking 2D games on the PSP since Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX. Nothing flawless about it. The sound is awesome. The sound effects and voice acting are good, but the music is the highlight of the sound. Both games have great heavy metal and hard rock musical tracks that will really keep you pumpin for fighting monsters or your opponents. One weird problem is that some of the characters shouts sound different comparing both games on here. For example, some of Sol's shouts sound a bit higher in Judgment, while it's middle in X2. But the sound is superb, nonetheless. Overall, Guilty Gear Judgment is a great 2D game for your PSP. It could have been better if it had online play on both games and not having the beat-em-up being repetitive, but this game is still fun to play regardless. If you are a hardcore fighting game player or games with an anime art style, then Guilty Gear Judgment is worth checking out.
