Great to boost your new reader's self esteem.
Pros: These are short, easy books for new readers. The pictures help your child decipher the one or two unique words in each sentence. The covers are durable and exciting. Inner pages can be colored by child as an incentive to read. Cons: The books are so short and easy children memorize them quickly. Blocking the pictures is the only way to assure the words are being read and not guessed. The books are very small. Difficult for two to hold. Inner pages are black and white sketches not colorful illustrations like the cover. My kids were disappointed until I said that each time they read the book they may color one page. By the third colored page the book was memorized even the author's name.Pros: These are short, easy books for new readers. Just right for a new teacher!!
I bought these for my granddaughter who just graduated from college. She has her first teaching job this fall and I wanted to give her something she could use with her Pre-K students. She was thrilled to receive them and is looking forward to using these for years to come!!
