One of my all time favourite films...This is my second copy,as I loaned out the first one..They loved it,so I told them to keep it... Must have watched it 20 times,but still see little things I missed in previous view.. I just love everything about this production...Actors,story,set.. My only regret is I didn't see it on the London stage,although I did see a touring version,which was excellent. Witty and moving
Alan Bennett as always provides a very thought-provoking view on life with lots of fun and poignancy on the way. The acting is excellent and it is a strong cast - well known figures and most of the 'boys' have become well known since the film was made. Very nostalgic for any one who had anything to do with Sheffield in the 1980s or education.

Brilliant film with an amazing cast.
Saw this film when it came out in 2006, missed it on tv so treated myself, a bargain for £1.50 worth every penny. A funny and moving film with an amazing cast of actors. Will pass it on to my son who lives in Sheffield where it is set.
