I was glad to recieve the game and start playing, I was thrilled to have an Armored Core series game for the PSP, until I found out how much the potential of the game was ignored. There is no internet multiplayer, only ad-hoc. If you do not have friends/friends with psps/friends with psps with the same game, its of no use to you. There is only arena styled play, there is no single player campaign and the rise to Rank 1 is very easy and very short. I did it in a week or less. After achieveing rank 1 the only thing to do is fight the same opponent or all of your previous opponents. The game is lacking a single player campaign and multiplayer functions. I sold the game recently to a local game shop, that was probably my only greatly positive experience with the game. The game was fun, but I should have rented before shelling out $40 + s/h. The graphics, sound, and flow of the game are all amazing. However some of the battles can be aggrivating and if you like to throw things this probably wouldn't be a great game for you. My PSP survived so it isn't impossible to enjoy this game. As for control you have to get use to it and it is hard to keep total control of the AC in battle, kind of blocky movement. I disliked the fact that most if not all of the parts were already availible for all of your AC's to use. I also did not like the AI abilities as they seemed completely useless, I pwned all of the contenders using manual and do not trust AI to do the job without a bunch of technical hassle.Read full review
This is a great game for fans of the armored core series. However, unlike traditional armored core play, it is geared towards tournament matches with custom-build ACs. You have a slew of parts ready at your disposal, and you gain more by winning tournaments. On top of that, most players will find a heavy advantage and play-style with programming their ACs, turning them into killer AIs with advanced options in programming methods. This lends a hand towards a less action based playing experience, and more tactical planning. Some may like it, others may not. However it is a good game for a portable system like the PSP when you may have time on your hands to dawdle about and bring that killer AC to fruition.
The level of customization is what fans have come to expect from the Armored Core series. Arms, legs, cores, heads can be swapped out and tuned. Many variations can be applied and many things can be changed to affect gameplay. Plenty of action too. The only downside are the controls. They feel limited due to the PSP, but they are serviceable. And if you are already a fan, you'll want to get it regardless. Overall, it's a buy.
Armored Core Formula Front: Extreme Battle was one of the only Armored Core games that I enjoyed on the Playstation Portable. The only thing I didn't like was its challenge of extreme difficulty. It is recommended for real expert players, for those who now their customizing and have great fighting expirience. I have enjoyed the game for a while due to lack of online capabilities and gameplay. If your a hardcore fan of this series then, I highly recommend to play it with your friends.
This game is different from other AC games but any fan of the series will love this just as much as any other AC game. ACFF came out in Japan only but this PSP version gives fans from America a taste of what the game was about. Not only do you build your AC but also develope how they 'think' and send them out to battle. Think of the AI training feature found in ACSL but instead of training the AC you actually put in set values and tweak the combat style of the AC. If you still feel the need of controlling your mech then that option is always available for any battle you enter as well. Great buy for any fan! nuff said.
If your a ammored core fan, then this title will hold you over on your daily commute (hopefully your on the train/bus not driving)or in times of when portability is mandatory (hospital waiting room). Tons of parts, fast gameplay, excellent graphics. Agetec really did a nice job with this title. Sa2
A good game. No real plot line, just ac battles. The controller configuration takes a little getting used to, but not much. If your a fan of AC battles, I would suggest getting this game.
THANKS GIRLZ. iTS A FAVORITE GAME OF MINE. i LIKE THE BUILD ASPECT OF THE GAME. I BROKE MY OTHER TWO COPIES THROUGH REPITITION OF USE. ANYWAY THANKS i WILL LOOK TO YOU IN THE FUTURE FOR MY PSP GAME WANTS AND NEEDS. mARSHALL eNGLAND 3.
First thing i love it about is that its graphics are so bright and colorful, better than PS2 AC games. only thing disappoint me is that it doesn't come with mission Play. I love AC games, and am hard core fan of it. got to have it all!
Good game, great graphics, but not as good as ps2 version! there is no missions in formula front just staged battles also all the weapons are there you don't have to buy them but that is what I liked about the ps2 versions, that you got money to buy parts! Controls are a little tricky too!
