  • Historic life of a philosopher

Despite the film is in Mandarin with English subtitles, it is very well documented and the film is very entertaining and engaging. From the first minute to the last one we are eager to discover what this man will do in his life. When he was not given advice to the kings, he taught the best way of living for the well being of his people. Confucius has been banned by Mao but reinstalled twenty years ago. His quotes still vibrant nowadays.

  • Not one for the fans

Beautifully photographed story, set around 500 BC, of the man who set out to prove that words are mightier than the sword and became Confucius, one of the world's greatest philosophers. Hong Kong action star Chow Yun Fat plays the great man. But fans of his earlier, exciting work will probably be disappointed by this fascinating, thoughtful film.
