About this product

Product Information

Bogart produced this action vehicle, in which he stars as Harry Smith, an American gun runner selling weapons to the Arabs in Damascus, circa 1925. As the French and Syrians wage war against each other, Smith is pursued by Feroud (Lee J. Cobb), a French colonel. Smith complicates matters for himself by stealing Feroud's girlfriend (Marta Toren), who has been eager to get away from the commander.

Bogart is once again on the wrong side of the law as a gunrunner in French occupied Syria in the mid-twenties... there's a lot of references back to the 'Great War' (Must have been nice to live in a world where they didn't have to number the wars) by Lee J. Cobb as the French commandant trying to pacify the area after the post WW-I occupation. Bogart is making life short and violently unpleasant by selling guns to the Syrians.
