    Great Old Fashioned Fun

This is by far the best version. The pairing of Walter Huston and Barry Fritzgerald is brilliant. The hero Lombart is a bit weak but is still better than Oliver Reed in the later version, Some great comedy moments scattered throughout helped by a deaf old general a incompetent middle aged private detective and a increasingly sozzled butler! Great stuff!

  • The old ones are the best.

"The old ones are the best." Made in 1945. Really exciting, full of suspense, keep you on the edge of your seat stuff. A truly good Agatha Christie.

  • Wrong feedback !!

Love this film. Left wrong feedback. Muddled it up with Murder by death film which IS a funny film. This one is an old fashioned murder mystery Keeps you guessing !!!

  • Very good quality for a public domain movie release.

This DVD is the 1945 film adaption of Agatha Christie's best-selling mystery novel And Then There Were None directed by René Clair. The film itself is now in the public domain, so there are several releases of varying quality on the market. This particular release starts out worryingly with shaky opening credits (causing me to cuss on first viewing) but the actual movie itself is clear, sharp, with no on screen problems - and no shaking! I was very pleased with the quality of the print overall. The DVD is no frills with no extras. You can choose a chapter to watch, but be warned the chapters themselves are something of a spoiler as they're imaginatively numbered backwards, one chapter for each victim. Overall, for a 1945 movie, I am very pleased with this purchase.
