  • Great place to start. A lot of fundimental concepts.

    Pros- I really liked this book. Wally Wang takes the beginner's hand and navigates the sea of programming languages. It helped me understand some similarities between languages as well as some of the differences. It can help a beginner decide which one(s) to focus on learning to accomplish their objectives. It lays out a nice overview and has many practical tips and intelligent warnings. If you are not sure of where to start to decide on which programming language to start learning, this is a great place to begin. Be prepared to focus though. Mr Wang does a terrific job of taking a very complicated topic and communicating it in simple, understandable terms but this book won't read itself for you.
