Excellent litte adapter for a transceiver
The adapter is a male SMA to SO239, be sure to purchase the correct one for your application. It allows connecting to a PL239 connector for use with Transceivers and scanners. I experimented with a UHF coaxial dipole made on overflow tube and found a vast improvement on received signals from GB7MT., thus a far greater range can be heard. The construction is excellent, the insulation appears to be PTFE, certainly not ceramic! Note that is not water proof. I found the design too short in the area around the "doing up" nut. This caused me difficulty in tightening up the 8mm nut on to the radio, bearing in mind a tight connection is needed to avoid a high SWR and PA damage. Summery: As such and by connector limitations the adapter is small, and a tad delicate, it needs ... The adapter is a male SMA to SO239, be sure to purchase the correct one for your application. Having said that It is good for connecting to PL259 with RG 58 style cables which don't put mechanical strain on the connector or the radio, if treated carefully Im sure it will outlast both the radio & You.
