Product Information

Sega's acclaimed basketball series continues with a number of refinements to the game engine introduced in NBA 2K2. New player animations and moves support a retooled physics model allowing for smoother post-ups, comebacks on offense, and more realistic rebounding options once the ball hits the rim. Updated graphics include an ESPN-style presentation and minute details such as beads of sweat appearing on players the longer they remain on the court, offering players a visual cue to make substitutions. Crowds have also been updated so rows closest to the court feature 3D individuals rather than 2D sprites. Playable teams include all 29 NBA squads from the 2002 season, both 2002 All-Star teams, and four fantasy teams consisting of legends from the past. <br><br>Players can immediately jump into the action by choosing the Quick Game option, or select from the following six modes: Street, Franchise, Season, Playoffs, Tournament, and Practice. NBA 2K3 for GameCube does not support network play found on the Xbox or PlayStation 2 versions, but players can still participate in special "Sega Sports Challenge" games and then post their results on www.segasports.com via codes provided at the end of each competition. After creating a user profile, players can keep track of their stats in eleven different categories. Games played as part of the "Sega Sports Challenge" automatically use default rosters and settings to ensure parity.<br><br>Players can hit the asphalt in Street Mode with a minimum of two-on-two to a maximum of five-on-five action. Two fictional teams, the Ballers and Ringers, and nine playgrounds and gyms are available, each modeled after real-life venues from across the country. Street ball rules apply, meaning baskets are worth one point and shots outside what would normally be the three-point line are worth two. Other options include day or night games and adjustable weather such as fog, heat wave, and rain while playing outdoors. Choose carefully, however, since weather affects a player's performance as the game wears on. While the rest of the modes are the same as 2001's game, players have the added ability to import an NCAA College Basketball 2K3 class into Franchise mode.

    If you reminisce the contenders of the early 2000's, this is for you.

    NBA 2K3 features 29 teams that can be used to play. If you're looking for a game that features Shaquille O'Neal, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Chris Webber, and many more stars in their prime, this is the game to play. NBA 2K3 features all the team rosters from the 2001-02 season, including Michael Jordan, who's wasn't in a Bulls uniform at the time, and the graphics feel as if you're watching a live game on TV. If there's one minor flaw, it's that it's too easy to score by driving to the basket, even with the worst point guards. Once a player starts to drive in the paint, the other team won't be able to do much, except pick up a foul. Other than that, the game plays well and the controls are similar to the current 2K's, which makes it familiar to adapt to.

    Simulation style play

    Love this game, and everything about it. My only problem is that the Computer just cant seem to miss. Wether shooting unbelievable 3's or an average player scoring 40 points on a consistance basis. But this storm can be weathered and you can still win the battle though it will be hard fought. A lot of nail biters. Another con is the inability to score mid range, and 3's by your controlled player. If you dont let the shot got at the perfect time, you might as well be looking for the rebound, cause it just aint going in. Your player seems to miss easy shots on a consistance basis as well. Dunks and layups are missed too often. But still a great game.

    A really great game for its time!

    I bought this game just out of pure nostalgia and it was worth every penny. It has great gameplay, a nice classic ESPN soundtrack and good graphics. You will not be disappointed if you buy this game.

    NBA 2k3 Game cube

    A must have for any basketball fan. There is action, and excitment at you try to hrul the ball into the net. It is not much differnt from the new version, except the nw version has some new players. This version is just as good and a steal at an ebay price.
