About this product

Product Information

RACE, CLASS, AND, GENDER, includes many interdisciplinary readings. The author's selection of very accessible articles show how race, class, and gender shape people's experiences, and help students to see the issues in an analytic, as well as descriptive way. The book also provides conceptual grounding in understanding race, class, and gender; has a strong historical and sociological perspective; and is further strengthened by conceptual introductions by the authors. Students will find the readings engaging and accessible, but may gain the most from the introduction sections that highlight key points and relate the essential concepts. Included in the collection of readings are narratives aimed at building empathy, and articles on important social issues such as prison, affirmative action, poverty, immigration, and racism, among other topics.

Pin cake exactly as described and was packaged very well! The seller was also away at the time of my purchase (eBay did notify me) and the seller reached out to make sure I saw the away message and would be aware of the shipping delay.

  • See it for what it is: More Tiresome Propaganda

Another product of our modern mindless university indoctrination system. Sure, readable human interest stories, but is this the sort of subject we really want to study? Do we have to keep dwelling on what color and gender we all are? Can't we finally give it a rest? The politically correct morons want us to think life is all about power and oppression, and that somehow our lives can all be made better if we just diversify. By forcing us, upon pain of public censure, to endlessly repeat these illogical mantras we lose our culture, our history, and our language, but most of all we lose our confidence. Repeating lies robs a people of their dignity - ask the ex-Soviets. The real purpose of the politically correct movement to to control us. Stop allowing yourself to be put into these racist or ...

  • Personal Narratives Mostly

This book was used in my Sociology 001 class. It is full of personal narratives of people who have suffered through discrimination. It is not a great teaching tool, there is no reflection on what was said or discussion questions, but if personal narratives is what you're looking for. This is the book for you.

  • Race, Class, And Gender by Margaret L. Andersen, Patric

i am going to sleep!!!! this book is so complicate, long, boring, and useless!!! i use it for women study : classical female thoughts!! it is expensive and difficult to find!!! i gave up

  • very descriptive

The articles are good, well rounded and mostly relivent. Some of the articles are pretty old and it is obvious. This is a great way to learn about the complexities of cross cultural communication.

  • great book for women's studies!
