Great Purchase
I would have never thought of this as being reconditioned. The unit was like brand new and is my new favorite thing. It makes no noise and functions just as billed. We have pets in the house, and the dust and dog hair have decreased considerably. I no longer worry that we are nose blind to odor. My husband's allergies are improved as well. The only problem would be the space it requires since it has to have space both behind and in front of the unit, but I could not be more pleased with this purchase.I would have never thought of this as being reconditioned. just what I was looking for
My electric bills have already dropped using this device in Auto Mode rather than my old Holmes unit left on Low 24/7. The device notices when I've showered or stir up dust and kicks up the motor until it's content that all is under control and then returns to barely a whisper. Please note that the Plasma Wave should not be used while you are in the house as it can create eye and lung irritants, less so than ozone, but still nonetheless a concern with certain users. I have an ozone generator and drag it out when there's a particularly foul odor/cooking smell to confront and run it while I'm out of the house. I haven't had such a smell since I got the Winix, so I can't comment on the Winix 9500's ability to handle odors or the efficacy of the PlasmaWave system. My friend bought one on ... My friend bought one on my recommendation and he kept the plasmawave system running all the time, and while he didn't have an lung or eye irritation, he did notice a flapping noise at times as the plasmawave system dealt with his cat's dander and hair and what have you. So, if you hear a flapping noise turn off the plasmawave and see if it goes away. He also noticed a little charcoal dust on the outside of his unit after he first got it, but I suggested he wash off the carbon filter and he hasn't noticed any dust since. I had no such problem with carbon dust, so I can't say where that came from. I have already noticed that my electric bills have dropped off with this device, and I love how it is constantly sensing and monitoring the air like a sentry and kicks into a higher gear when needed. I can't speak to the durability of the unit. It's relatively light, and I've only had it for 3 months, but I'm encouraged that it works so well and hope it won't develop any problems long term.

Great value for a high quality smart air filter
I put the filter in automatic mode. It senses odors and dust in the air and adjusts the fan speed accordingly. Even turbo mode is fairly quiet compared to other HEPA filters that I've owned. It also has a light sensor, it keeps the fan at low so as to not disturb your sleep. The filters are huge, literally as big as a large pizza box. Multiple cat household
We have 4 cats and keeping up with their normal hair loss has been a challenge. We brush them and vacuum the floors, but we gave ourselves a huge gift in having the air cleaner. We were especially tired of the amount of hair in the kitchen area. So, we bought the air cleaner and set it up in the kitchen area where it has been very quiet and cut down on cat hair and dust that gets in the air.
