    Jimi Hendrix Band Of Gypsies

    I bought (2) of these CD’s, my ultimate favorite Jimi Hendrix album, since I was a pre teen. I had this on vinyl twice before, once as a kid in the 70’s, and again in 1986. I bought (2) CD’s, because a friend of mine from Shanghai, China raves about Hendrix. This music has a raw, live edge to it.

    Just ain't the same..

    maybe it's me but i don't think so.. i bought the 2012 release cd, it just doesn't sound right. best i can describe it is the tempo is a wee bit to fast, sure does not sound as smooth and sweet as the original LP.. hope whoever ran the mixing board is back to sweeping floors.. ya don't tweek masterpieces tho i do believe somebody tried on this release..

    Hendrix's New Direction After Woodstock : Goodbye Experience, Hello Gypsis

    I forgot how good this album really is! I had the original 2 cassette version years ago which was a NYC New Years Eve Concert by Hendrix without the Experience guys and his new Band of Gypsis. The album marked a new direction for Jimi. The remastering of this on the 2010 CD version is a nice, refined soul, almost jazzy sound. I liked it back then, and still like it now. Definitely worth listening to and owning a copy if you are a Hendrix fan!
