Vonnegut is one of America's great authors. This book is typical of his style, written in short chapters that are like quick scenes yet fitting into an overall story. There is much here, humor and serious moral questions, along with a lot of satire of America's involvement with overseas governments. You also get a lot of his war philosophy, similar to Slaughterhouse 5 in that you can pick up the influence his war experiences had on him and his writing. Vonnegut was a survivor of the Dresden Firestorm of WWII, as a prisoner of war. After the disaster, he was assigned with a number of prisoners to pick up and remove the dead bodies. This is well worth your time.
What if the father of the atomic bomb created another weapon that was never used? What if his children inherited that weapon? It a fictional story that takes place after nonfictional events.

Possibly Vonnegut's best work! ---And that's saying something! Dark humor, satire, social philosophy at its very best, combine it all, add in Vonnegut's humor to each of these, and this is what you get - Cat's Cradle, the eternal shrug of life from Kurt Vonnegut Jr. One of his best works, up there with Breakfast of Champions and Slaughterhouse-Five, if you want to what Vonnegut's style is, this is the book to read. I highly recommend this novel to anyone and everyone!
It had significant wear not advertised but it still was functional and I was able to read it
