This drill is an older model that was made when they were made in the US. The new model and the knoc offs are made in China I believe. I bought this because it was like new and made in the US. I also own one of the Chinese knockoffs and the difference is striking. From new, the Neiko knockoff had bearings in the gearing that sounded like they could leave the drill at any time. The speed control was very sensitive and hard to regulate. The chuck had small teeth and was hard to tighten. It was also very cheap. The "made in the US" Milwaukee bearings and gearing is much quieter, the speed control is much easier to regulate and the chuck has much larger teeth and easy to tighten. Even used (but like new) it was about 4X the cost of the knockoff. The argument seems to be that I can buy four of the knockoffs for the price of the US made Milwaukee. That may be true but you also have to factor in the ease of use when using. I believe the made in US drills can also be rebuilt by Milwaukee.Read full review

My first one of these drills was one of the old style black ones, sold by Sioux. It lasted 20 years of hard use before finally giving up. It is exactly the same drill as the Milwaukee. The only reason the old style doesn't get five stars, is the reversing switch is a weak design, and easily broken. The updated version of the old style has a newly designed switch. Sioux and Milwaukee both have discontinued this housing shape, and Milwaukee has introduced a new modern looking version (on the left in the second photo). The older version has the better ergonomics, in my opinion.....too bad they are no longer produced. I have about ten of these drills, and they are built for heavy industrial use......you get what you pay for with these drills, as they have quality parts that exceed the knock off Chinese imports that are currently being sold. Bought this specifically for my 6" hole saw. Works perfectly. Lots of power and still lightweight. Only complaint is the chuck doesn't hold as tight as I'd like but the keyless chuck is sure convenient.

I like this little drill for small jobs. Low enough power it stops before smashing your hand. The bad parts on this one were good on my broken one so combined for another 20 years of service

Excellent drill for lathe sanding.

Drill motor arrived and works as advertised. I am saving it for parts for use in my identical unit which will presumably fail eventually, particularly the variable speed controller.
