Until The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was released, I never had the privilege of experiencing an Elder Scrolls game. After well over a hundred hours of gameplay on Oblivion, I decided to rewind a bit of the story and purchase The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. I bought the Gold Game of the Year Edition because it includes expansions that were previously only released for the PC version of the game. The graphics are fairly substandard compared to Oblivion; however, the graphics engine used in this game is what made the development of a masterpiece like Oblivion possible. In addition, many easter eggs included in Oblivion require a knowledge of the province of Morrowind. This alone should make Morrowind a must-play for all those Oblivion lovers. If you call yourself an RPG player you should place this game on the top of your list to experience. It's an oldie--but a goodie.Read full review
i originally bought this because i had played oblivion and it caught my eye with werewolves(which i hope they bring back in skyrim!!) that was only the reason why i got interested in it though. the graphics are pretty suckish for 2011 but back when it was made these were the cream of the crop. the game has so much depth that you could play for 500+ hours and still not find everything that there is to find. what i like about it over oblivion is that the towns and cities are rendered with the wildlife areas so that you dont have to load a new area every time you want to enter a city or if you forgot something that was on the ground just through the gate(this is from a personal reference) they get way detailed when it comes to weapons and magic and things of that kind. and as i mentioned earlier if you have the bloodmoon expansion on pc or (goty) for xbox like i do then you get to fight this whole werewolf against village war and you get to pick a side which of course i chose lycanthropy over being a mortal.:P i still mostly had fun with the loodmoon expansion but the entire game is definitely worth it. it kicks oblivion's a** with detail for sure and the magic has its ups and downs from oblivion. i honestly like the fighting system in oblivion more but for everything else(except main story, morrowind storyline is boring) morrowind is the best.i still havent gotten to tribunal though. for those who have read this entire rant i thank you for having the patience to deal with my bullsh*t for several moments.Read full review
Morrowind has to be one of the most unique Role Playing Games ever created, it contains so many elements never before seen even to this day. Despite its age and highly clunky gameplay, it still tramples over most RPGs with its many, many choices, from deciding whether to be a heavily armored, spell slinging Breton or even a quick-on-your-feet, heavy hitting Nord, so many possibilities in this amazing open world game. Not only does this game offer up some truly lengedary moments for any gamer out there it also sucks you in with it's beatiful and rich history and lore which you can read about in the abundance of books throughout the world, enough to fill a small library, or just talk to the characters of Morrowind, but if that doesn't interest you then just go find a cave to rid of bandits or skeletons from a tomb, this is a game that's hard to get bored of.Read full review

My son has been wanting this game for sooo long. When we received it the box was in very good condition. There was a slight scratch on the disc. But it worked fine. Kid is happy, that is all that matters. Great Price, Great Seller.

I like how there are many different outcomes no matter how many times you play this game. At one minute you can be fighting a monster and the next killing a soldier. The idea is that you can pick from a variety of characters. you can build up the characters stats any way you prefer. you can pick to be a fighter, a thief, a wizard anything you want. become a cleptomaniac, or collect enchanted items or become a supreme alchemist. overall this game is hours of fun and entertainment
The game is old, the graphics are fair, and the combat is frustrating at first. After you get past the first few hours the game really starts to take off. I spent the first hour wondering around the starter town. There is so much to do in this game and the world is so compelling and mysterious. If you decide to get this game go for the Game of the Year Edition. The combat is the only negative because it is based off of virtual dice roles that decide if you hit or miss, so get ready to spam that right trigger.

I did not get to play this game when it first came out on either the PC or the XBOX (not XBOX 360). I now have a newly purchased used XBOX original console to experience how the game play was. It was not bad at all. The game is the precursor to Oblivion that came out on the PC & XBOX 360. I played Oblivion first on both the PC & XBOX 360. With all that said the Morrowind (GotY)(XBOX) is a great game to play on the XBOX and has longer load time than on the XBOX 360 which it can play on if you have the Pro or Elite versions. The setting are visually dark compare to other Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games. Sometime to dark to make out the scene you are in or clearly see who you may be fighting(AI Player). I resolved this by brightening the back light/intensity or the TV I was playing on. Side note: most TV's are running brightness at about 50% to conserve electricity and the life of the TV.Back to the game. Even though it is dark visually at time the visual detail that lead to the creation of Oblivion is all their of course not 1080p but very good for the version it was. I think it could do 480p or 720p but don't quote me on those figures. Over all the game play is challenging. This is not a 5 to 10 hour hack and slash game it is more 200+ hours of fun for one time through. You can change character type and extend the game play to close to 1000+ hrs if you play just a few combination of player type ie human or dark elf and many more. The game is a wide open game that you can walk the entire game without cut-scenes moving you to another location. the Level of detail is out of this world. It was game like this that made the XBOX popular to begin with. I suggest this game in XBOX or PC form. The XBOX version is no longer made and is getting harder to find a good copy. The PC version is still being sold in the stores. It is your chose to which one you get. I do suggest you use the XBOX 360 to play this game to help eliminate the continual load times of the original XBOX. Other than is one of the best RTS game made to date. I hope my rambling was to much and this review helps. ChrisRead full review
Takes some getting used to compared to the newer installations seeing as I started with Oblivion. But if you have the patience it pays off. Great story line draws you in. This game could take 30 hours or more. No fast travel and no map compass hand holding. Plenty of value for an older game.

Classic gem and an absolute must-play for Elder Scrolls and RPG fans. Excellent gameplay and mechanics. Graphics are dated and character models are a little tough to get around after Skyrim HD, but this is perhaps as good or better of an overall game. Would love to see an HD remake.

First off I'm writing this review for people that bought the original Morrowind. So if you haven't ever played the original, i doubt you will know what I'm talking about in this review.I bought this game about a month ago because I had the original Morrowind and wanted to see how the expansion packs were like. First we'll start with expansion pack, Tribunal. I'm not gonna go into the story here mainly because you won't be buying this for the story, and whatever story there is I don't want to spoil it for you. Tribunal takes place mainly in the city of Mournhold. Even though the box says you get to go to the Clockwork City, the "city" is nothing more then a dungeon, with weird traps. Nothing has realy changed from the original Morrowind, you get some new weapons and armor(one sword has a striking resemblance to a lightsaber), some new ingredients, a shopkeeper who sells grand soul gems, and a couple other things. Now we'll talk about Bloodmoon. Ok, Bloodmoon takes place on an island northwest of Morrowind. This island is about 1/5 the size of Morrowind, but it comes with a couple goodies. In this expansion pack you will be able to become a werewolf, along with a couple new sets of armor and weapons. Now even though your going to want to become a werewolf at the first possible chance, don't. You will get a ring near the end of the game that transforms you into one whenever you put it on. Game of the Year Edition is great to get even if you have the normal version of Morrowind, because of the new weapons and armor, becoming a werewolf, having new places to explore, and having new quests. So I would recomend getting it. You could get it on ebay for around twenty dollars, wich is a good price for an excellent game.Read full review
