  • The Amazing Mr Blunden ( Hemdale Films)

I just had to write a review of this, one of my favourite films, and one that gave me my ID, in fact was the very reason I found eBay. I had remembered this film ever since seeing it as a child, and it was special to me even then as it was one of the first books I ever read, then titled 'The Ghosts' by Antonia Barber. The plot is actually quite complicated for what is a childrens film, but it is shot beautifully, and is often mistaken for the Railway Children, having had the same director and producer. The story revolves around two children sent with their mother to look after a derelict old manor house in the country. Their benefactor who found them this much needed job is an old and mysterious solicitor, Mr Blunden. While at the house they are warned about possibly seeing ...

  • The Amazing Mr Blunden(dvd 2003)

I bought this dvd after having seen it many years ago and never forgot it.Its one of those childhood films that never leaves you.It has something for everyone, keeps you rooted to the spot as you wonder whats going to happen next.Set in Victorian England it basically tells the story of a poor woman and her tree children that are poverty stricken .One snowy night they are visited by a strange elderly man who offers the woman and her children an opportunity to move into an old run down mansion to act as housekeeper. It turns out that the house is haunted by past events and ghosts of prior occupants of the mansion. There was a fire one hundred years earlier, and the two young children are visited by two ghosts of children who died in the fire with the hope of turning back time to change the ...

  • The Amazing Mr Blunden

This is an absolutely superb children's film- ages 8-12 (female). It revolves around a destitute family who are visited by a very strange old man. He persuades them to take up residence in an old haunted house and in doing so, they change the course of history. It keeps children gripped right until the end. This film was released around the same time as The Railway Children, and is of the same genre, yet so much better. I watched this film on VHS as a child and I am thrilled that a superb quality DVD copy is still available on ebay. I would thoroughly recommend this!
