NotesBig League Babe: The Christine Lavin Tribute Album Part 1 contains interpretations of 12 Christine Lavin songs by a diverse group of contemporary musicians. The project celebrates Christine Lavin's music and is a tribute her tireless efforts to support other musicians. What began as a plan to record 10-12 songs as a surprise for Christine grew to the 2 album/26 song collection! n 1984, Christine quit her day job at Bellvue Hospital to pursue a career in music full-time. Since then she has recorded nine solo original albums, produced six compilations showcasing songs by dozens of her favorite singer/songwriters, and is part of three Four Bitchin' Babes albums. She has published one solo songbook, two group compilations, has won two New York Music Awards, three ASCAP composer awards, a NAIRD Award for Folk Album of the Year and the Kate Wolf Memorial Award, given yearly by the World Folk Music Association. Her concert career has taken her all over the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Germany, and for two years during her travels she was the folk correspondent for Public Radio International's World Cafe. For the first three months of 1997, she hosted the weekly three-hour radio program, Sunday Breakfast on WFUV-FM in New York City. She has also written for The Washington Post.
