Speaking for my husband..................
This was part of a Christmas gift consisting of a whole bunch of DVD's (I am talking complete premium series as well as movies) for my husband & he said "Bridge of Spies" was terrific. He &, for that matter, I had no idea it was based on a true story. I have not, as yet, seen it because our DVD player in the house won't play grrrr....... BASED ON TRUE EVENTS
It's a period piece made during the 1957 era with the Cold War and espionage at the center of the movie. The level of realism is impressive right down to the gigantic Cadillacs and hats worn by almost all men (I never realized how popular that style of hat was. ) Without giving away the whole premise, I can vouch for the authenticity of both the main and minor characters having researched each one in an encyclopedia. Apparently, it all really did happen including the prisoner exchange on the Glenekia bridge and Checkpoint Charlie. Good performances by all actors give an added level of suspense and realism to the entire film. You may want to watch it several times to absorb all the fine attention to detail, so better to buy the DVD than rent. Another Tom Hanks great movie.

Tension, drama, and good acting
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my hubby (I buy early). We've seen it before and he liked it. I'm typically not big on war movies, but we had enjoyed it together.
