THIS WAR MOVIE DATES BACK TO THE MIDDLE 1956. SURPRISINGLY IT STILL HOLDS UP PRETTY GOOD. GRITTY AND REALISTIC FOR IT'S DAY. THE CAST IS A WHO'S WHO OF BRITISH MOVIES. EARLY ROLES FOR ROBERT SHAW, STEPHEN BOYD AND A YOUNG ACTOR CALLED MICHAEL CAINE (WHO ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED ACTION IN KOREA IN REAL LIFE). HARRY ANDREWS, STANLEY BAKER, MICHAEL MEDWIN. RONALD LEWIS AND GEORGE BAKER ARE ALSO FEATURED. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST NO BRITISH WAR MOVIE IS COMPLETE WITHOUT VICTOR MADDERN AND PERCY HERBURT IN THE SQUAD!! IT MOVES ALONG AT A GOOD PACE AND HAS GOOD CHARACTOR STUDIES WITHOUT BEING STERIO TYPICAL. THE ONLY FAULT I CAN SEE IS THAT IT FOLLOWS MUCH THE SAME GROUND AS SAMUEL FULLER'S "THE STEEL HELMET" 1951.
