nice overview, but not speciific enough for me.
I bought this book hoping for an insight into the symbolism and significance of various flowers, especially in the medieval period. When I opened the book I realised it was more of an introduction to flowers, plants and trees. It's also rather dated with old photos or people from the eighties, and when reading it you find you already know most of the stuff already... such as "Holly was used at Christmas time". That sort of thing. Some of the stories of how people celebrated their local oak trees and so on were nice stories, but not really the folklore I was hoping for. The book is a little disjointed as though it's more of a collection of writing rather a coherant piece, with no way of referencing paticular flowers, such as bluebells, for instance.
