15 classic traditional songs, beautifully recorded and performed by a galaxy of real stars, including the late, great Big Jim Sullivan and Dr. John. Lonnie runs the show, but Van is in top form too - he sings and plays with great gusto, but he also chats, laughs and jokes! Most unusual for him, in my experience. I'm a fan of both Morrison and Donegan, and all the singing and playing on this disc is superb. Don't look here for VM classics, however - it's a great concert performance, captured live before a great crowd and featuring great blues and skiffle music. Lonnie sadly died a couple of years after this release, so this is a great testament and memorial to his humour, enthusiasm, musical ability and knowledge, and his wonderful voice which, here, spans all the emotions and his wide ... 15 classic traditional songs, beautifully recorded and performed by a galaxy of real stars, including the late, great Big Jim Sullivan and Dr. John. Great Lonnie Donegan.
This is the best Lonnie Donegan cd in my collection-his singing and guitar playing gels perfectly with Van Morrison. Recommended for all new and old fans of this great singer. Saw him many times live-it was a massive loss when he passed away.

The Skiffle Sessions, Live In Belfast
This album is sure to get your feet tapping from the start, and right through to the end. I've always been a Lonnie Donegan fan, and the combination of Lonnie and Van Morrison, Chris Barber, Dr. John etc has produced a great album. Skiffle brought up to date is how I would describe it. A big thank you must go to Van Morrison for talking Lonnie into doing this.
