This is an Excellent model, in HO scale of the locos originally built for the US Army in the 1940s for service in Europe, during and after WW2. Many remained in Europe, and the UK, and many have been preserved, and are still operational. A good number were either never sent abroad, or were returned, and ended up being sold off for industrial service, and a few were retained by the Army for its own use. This example is of one used by the Albermarle Paper mill, and named by them as "the Rebel". It checks out against drawings as Very Accurate, and it`s performance is superb, after a little break in running, due to a Flywheel fitted Can motor. The paint finish is excellent, although a little weathering might be added, and the loco is fitted with McHenry (?) style Magnetic Knuckle Couplers with knuckle Springs, in a rust colour. These work very well with other K.D. type couplers. It is DCC ready, and is a joy to switch with. To sum up this is a Superb model at a Real Bargain Price from the supplier I purchased from.Read full review

Growing up in Richmond, Va., in the 50's and 60's, I got to see the actual engine that is represented by this offering. I had to have this one! My railroad only gets set up around Christmas, so this little guy won't get used for awhile, but having a neat little piece of history like this is what makes mod l railroading fun. I haven't decided on a consist, or if I should try to run the little engine on a section of Bachmann auto reversing track. To be historically accurate, the consist will be limited to one or two coal cars or gondolas.

I use The Rebel to pull a single Bachmann open air excursion car on my Bachmann auto reversing track. Due to the fact that the engine and car are lightweight, they shuttle back and forth flawlessly for hours on the reversing track, which I use to provide rides for patrons of the railroad museum on my layout. Before I found the excursion car, The Rebel pulled a bay window caboose which is now used as a museum exhibit. The Rebel and the caboose also performed well on the reversing track.
