We have hardwood floors, and the hard floor attachment does the job. We have a corded Dyson vacuum, and it does a poor job on our hard floors, but this V8 cordless does very well. Even after vacuuming with the corded model, we usually had to mop afterwards to get all the dust up. This allows us to often skip the mopping step. Also, the convenience of just being able to grab it and use it, without a cord, is very nice. The only thing I don't understand is why the hard floor attachment is not available for more models. It appears to only be available with the V8 Absolute model.

After purchasing the Dyson V8 vaccumn it was weak picking up dirt on regular power. When switch on max power it cut off after a full charge in a few seconds. Change both filters with same results.

I have had a Dyson DC11 vacuum for many years, never thought of these stick vacuums until recently, but WOW, LOVE IT! Can do quick and easy clean-ups without the bulk and all with da DC11. Still use the DC11 for deeper-cleaning of carpets, but for minor clean-ups, V8 Absolute is awesome! And fir hardwood floors, that Fluffy attachment is amazing!

I really love this vacuum because it is so easy to use and lightweight, which is important to me because I have a 3 story house so am carrying it up and down stairs. It really picks up the animal hair! Works well with using the different attachments for bare floor or carpet. No bags to worry about - just flip the lever over a trash can and empty the contents. Stores conveniently while charging. The only downside is that the battery doesn't last that long, so if you needed to clean a large house in a single day, you would only get through a couple rooms before you ran out of battery. As advertised, the battery only lasts about 40 mins and then takes about 5 hours to charge. I decided not to spend the extra money ($150-$200 more?) to buy the top of the line model which advertises 60 mins of battery. I have an old Kenmore canister plug-in vacuum as my back up vaccum cleaner (which I actually hate because it is so hard to lug around). Having the Dyson stick vacuum keeps me on top of the vacumming as I will do one room per day and quick clean ups, whereas with the canister vacuum, it is such a pain to use that I procrastinate getting it out and would go weeks without vacuuming at all!Read full review
