I'm using this with a Pasasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40. The flash works side-by-side pointing in the same direction as the camera. It doesn't sync correctly on the primary (single) flash, but does on the red-eye setting (2nd flash). With no attenuation feature (I have not fully explored using the camera manual settings, but don't expect much as the aperture range is small), it overexposes at distances less than 18 or 20 ft. I had good results at about 35 ft. I plan to look for a ball mount shoe so I can use ceiling reflection. I don't see a practical place to attach a neutral density filter. The mini tripod just supports the camera & flash on the bar, when they are set very close together. A larger tripod would be more useful. However, a heavier camera would likely provide better stability too.Read full review

This slave flash functions very well and has a decent battery life. There's a little guess work involved with finding the right setting for your camera but it only take about one minute to figure it out. The extra light from the flash is more than enough to compensate for a low level built in flash or a dark room. Of course you must maintain a little distance to avoid white washing your subject, but all-in-all this is a great product.
It works for what I need it for it hasn't failed me yet , yes their are better flashes out there but I don't use it a lot to spend those big bucks , If I was a professional than yes I would buy a better flash, it fits my needs and I have no complaints
