About this product

Product Information

This is the wonderful and warm-hearted Roald Dahl classic, Esio Trot. Mr Hoppy really loves his neighbour Mrs Silver, and Mrs Silver really loves her tortoise, Alfie. One day Mrs Silver asks Mr Hoppy how to make Alfie grow, and suddenly Mr Hoppy knows the way to win her heart. With the help of a magical spell and some cabbage leaves, can Mr Hoppy be happy at last? A true genius . . . Roald Dahl is my hero David Walliams Roald Dahl, the best-loved of children's writers, was born in Wales of Norwegian parents. After school in England he went to work for Shell in Africa. He began to write after a monumental bash on the head , sustained as an RAF pilot in World War II. Roald Dahl died in 1990. Quentin Blake is one of the best-known and best-loved children's illustrators and it's impossible now to think of Roald Dahl's writings without imagining Quentin Blake's illustrations.

  • Introduce your children...

This book is small but very good. Roald Dahl is one of my favorite authors and I am introducing my 5 year old son to his work. Esio Trot is about an old man that has been in love with the woman that lives a floor below him for years. She has a pet turtle that she is in love with and the man wishes that he will someday be loved by her as she loves her tortoise. When the woman wants her pet to grow, the man buys a turtle a little bit larger than hers and switches them so that the woman doesnt notice and the old woman is pleased. She invites him to her house and thanks him for making her loved tortoise grow as she wanted. They become better friends but you will have to read the book the find out what happens with the man and womans relationship! Funny and entertaining with the usual great ...
