This book follows "The Black Stallion and The Girl". I bought this book after having read that one, mainly because I was eager to see what would would develop next in the romance between Pam and Alec. I had fallen in love with Pam's character and she was the reason that I had decided I just had to have the following book in the series. I suppose the Black Stallion series was never meant to be romantic fiction...at any rate, I thought "The Black Stallion Legend" was soooooo disappointing. In this book Alec discovers that Pam has died in a car accident. As unlikely as this sound, he finds out by reading a brief article in a newspaper. Needless to say, I was almost as upset as Alex was over Pam's death, and it set the stage for me to not like the story very well. For the rest of the story, Alec is consumed by grief, and he takes off with the Black not even knowing where he is going. He then stumbles into an unexpected adventure. After I came to terms with the fact that the book was not going to be anything like what I expected, it did hold my interest, but overall it just isn't one of my favorites from the series. It's still worth reading though!Read full review
