The title reflects exactly the contents of the book.
Although the majority of people will recall steam locomotives in the B R era being dirty and black, there were many interesting and various liveries for steam locomotives that most people would not be aware off unless they were enthusiasts. This book covers the different liveries and the regional variations well.
