3 Stars Out of 5 -- "The Overall Feel Is of Engaging Songwriting Zeal and a Rare Warmth.", Ranked #87 in Q Magazine's "100 Greatest Albums of 2006.", 4.5 stars out of 5 -- "The real story of this breathtaking follow-up...is Romeo Stodart's transformation for merely a good songwriter to an outstanding one.", "The urgent guitars and moody violins backing up the Numbers...harken back to the sort of tunes that wafted from a '70s AM radio." -- Grade: B, 3 stars out of 5 -- "'Take A Chance' walks on sunshine, surfs on soft harmonies and makes love's hurt sound positively ecstatic.", "'Undecided' showcases much of the band's strengths: tight vocal harmony, commandingly grooving bass lines, and mastery of teasing stop-and-start for emphasis and suspense."

  • Not sure yet about this!

Totally loved their debut album "The Magic Numbers" and play it all the time. Still not too sure about the follow up. What made the first album so appealing for me was the singing harmonies, especially the female vocals, combined with the indie style guitar which prevented it becoming too sugary and soft. Their 2nd album seems to have taken a different direction (the band actually stated this in a recent interview in the Kentish Express newspaper).Where are the great harmonies? Where is the slashing guitar? I guess I wanted more of the same and have,so far, been dissapointed. However, early days in listening terms. Maybe it will grow on me, but still hoping the next album is more like the debut.Altogether now: "This time it's all gone wrong, what am I to do?"....

  • Grows on you.

Was going to see The Magic Numbers in concert, have their first album which I love so wanted to know the songs from this one too. Was unsure of the album first few listens but it grows on you. Ever get a chance to see them live go they are fantastic. Really good best band/performance I had seen for ages.

  • A real grower

Purchased on a whim, I am really glad I did so. At times they may sound a lot like the mammas and the pappas, but that is no bad thing. This album grows and grows on you. Couldnt recommend highly enough, especially if you need some laid back music for the car.
