I bought this to stop bigger birds like the magpies eating all the fat. The cage is big enough to stop them unlike another smaller one that I tried. I already had a similar one for seeds which is very successful in keeping out unwanted birds. It was branded so cost me £5 more but is exactly the same as this one. Unfortunately I have now lost my woodpecker who was too big to fit through the bars.

BALLS, NUTS & SEEDS FEEDERS - All Looking To Be very Successful
It's only been up for 2 days and the birds are approaching it, the nut feeder and the seed feeder cautiously. However, I think it's (they're) going to be a great success. It looks strong, easy to clean and fill and I think it's going to be very popular. The nut feeder has already survived a squirrel attack!

Not crow-proof
A decent feeder station, but the crows / jackdaws have already worked out if they attack from the bottom, they can get to the lowest fat ball. Considering I bought this feeder to stop the crows and jackdaws monopolising the feeder, it failed in that respect.

Starling proof!
These feeders are sturdy, well made and the ONLY feeders I have tried that keep starlings from eating everything you put out. They stop magpies too, even after a very determined attempt by one that I witnessed. I have all three types and they all work just as well. Now the smaller birds in my garden have a chance to get some food.

Will also protect the contents from larger birds.
I bought this in the hope that not only will it stop squirrels but also larger birds, such as Starlings from devastating the feeder. It works. It took a while for the smaller birds to learn how to use it but now they have their own protected feeder.
