Additional Information
The sequel to the 2005 blockbuster FANTASTIC FOUR, RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER finds the Marvel superhero quartet of Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd), Sue Storm (Jessica Alba), Johnny Storm (Chris Evans), and Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis) facing an extraterrestrial threat in the form of the title character (played by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne), an enigmatic being whose presence on Earth could signal the planet's end. Amidst the ensuing action, Reed and Sue attempt to tie the knot, and an old foe (Dr. Doom, portrayed by Julian McMahon) waits in the wings, allowing for plenty of levity and drama.<BR>This FANTASTIC FOUR outing, once again directed by Tim Story, gets much of its verve from the Silver Surfer himself. Played by Jones, an actor best known for his dual roles in PAN'S LABYRINTH, the Surfer is more than just CGI sheen, with subtle movements that seem truly alien and a voice of supreme gravitas, courtesy of Fishburne. Reed and Sue deal with wedding woes, while the fiery Johnny (aka The Human Torch) and a rock-solid Ben (The Thing) provide an extra dose of humour in a power-switching plot, making the film much lighter than other Marvel offerings.

    Enjoyable film.

This box set was the 3rd "FF - Rise of the Silver Surfer" DVD which I purchased. The first two DVD's "jammed" at exactly the same place in the film - when the Surfer has been captured and is about to be injected by a "Govt. Doctor" - who is called away - "Sue Strong - as the Invisible Woman" goes into his cell to talk to him, the SS says " I know you are there" and the disc jams - both discs did and refuse to go to the next scene - "scene 21." Very frustrating, must be a glitch on the manufacture of these discs. However -this boxed set played straight through with no problems, so I would recommend this boxed set over any other "FF - Rise of the Silver Surfer" DVD. Enjoyable film too - once I got to watch the entire film!

  • Fantastic Four - The Rise Of The Silver Surfer

When a mysterious Silver Surfer appears around the Earth, Reed starts to investigate what is going on, but he as other things on his mind like getting married to Susan Storm one of the members of the Fantastic four, but their wedding does not go to plan as the Silver Surfer turns up. They find out later that Earth is in danger from a powerful space being that eats worlds up. In this well made action movie with brilliant action and special effects, also brilliant acting too. 10+++++/10 Movie.

  • Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Coming across like the scatty younger sibling to the more serious, more mature ‘ X-Men’ films, 2005’s ‘Fantastic Four’ substituted corny comic banter and cheesy effects for solemnity, subtext and drama, and proved a sizeable hit with the prepubescent crowd. This numeral-less sequel aims for a similar demographic with a family-friendly, mankind-under-threat, globe-trotting plot that takes in our fair city (where the Eye’s saved from tumbling into the Thames) and an appearance by the Fantasticar that will, clearly, shift a few more toys. Gruffudd still looks faintly embarrassed at having to play the rubber-limbed, big-brained Mr Fantastic whose wedding to Invisible Woman Sue Storm (Alba) is interrupted by the all-CGI Silver Surfer, a cosmic visitor who rides the stars on his liquid metal ...

  • Fantasic

A really good film, I would say personally it is better than the first one. I watched the first one and it sparked an interest, so I bought Silver Surfer and was very happy with what I saw. The actors have now settled into their role as the Fantastic Four and it shows, the just an ordinary family with extraordinary powers. The Silver Surfer looks amazing, as does the Fantastic Fours power, there is also a return of Dr Doom, has he turned good, or is there a twist in the plot? I think this film will be enjoyed by adults and children, a good family film, definalty worth buying
