SPEARHEAD FROM SPACE finds the Doctor exiled to earth by the Time Lords as punishment for his behavior during the sixth-season finale THE WAR GAMES. THE AUTONS then picks up where the story of SPEARHEAD FROM SPACE concluded and sees the Doctor investigating the disappearance of the last Nestene Intelligence energy sphere.
