Classic but disappointing
I got this because I'd seen "Son of Paleface," and wanted to see Jane Russell in a different role. "The Outlaw" is billed as a milestone in film-making, but I found it disappointing. JR certainly "smoulders" as reviewers say, but it's not always clear what she's smouldering with (love? hate?), and the film is slow and a bit unconvincing. I suspect that a modern director would move the story on faster, which I'd prefer. That may be a matter of style and taste - and, as the saying goes, there's no point in arguing about tastes.
