About this product

Product Information

Called in secretly to investigate an allegedly haunted house with royal connections, Merrily Watkins, Deliverance Consultant for the Diocese of Hereford, is exposed to a real and tangible evil. A hidden valley on the border of England and Wales preserves a long-time feud between two old border families and an ancient Templar church with a secret that may be linked to a famous ghost story by M R James. On her own and under pressure, with the nights drawing in, the hesitant Merrily has never been less sure of her ground. Meanwhile, her closest friend, songwriter Lol Robinson, is drawn into the history of his biggest musical influence, the tragic Nick Drake.

My order arrived quickly and was nicely packaged but due to what I am sure must have been a clerical error the wrong copy of the book was sent. However, the seller rectified this promptly by actioning a refund. No harm done.

  • A First Rate Thriller

A most intriguing story by an author whose work I greatly enjoy. Well written and compelling and set in a fascinating part o the country.

  • Addictive

I am working my way through the entire series. They are unputdownable. I do not normally read stories set in the modern era, but the author is such a good story teller that my bias has been completely overcome. There are several 'life stories' being developed and it will be fascinating to see how they continue. In many ways I find the most interesting character to be Jane, but Merrily's relationship with Lol is also very interesting.
