Eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional folk music.
The musicianship and arrangements (often done at a very tight schedule) are simply amazing. Harmonies, tempo/tempi designed to maximise impact. Amazing stuff from Aly Bain (fiddle) and Jerry Douglas ( slide guitar), rhythm duties fall to drummer extraordinaire James Mackintosh. An old hero of mine , as in been around a while, Danny Thompson delivers a stunning array of bass lines and rhythms as we've come to expect. So many other great musicians are in attendance it's almost impossible to credit; John McCusker (fiddle/mandolin),Russ Barenberg, Michael McGoldrick... it goes on. The guest artists set the tone for excellence ,coming from America and all over the British Isles making a smorgasbord of tunes, airs, reels and ballads that are quite simply delightful.
