The Boss OS-2 is a guitar effect pedal capable of producing overdrive and distortion sounds, giving you a choice of both hard distortion sounds and smooth overdrive tones for rhythm playing. You can even integrate the overdrive and distortion effects, which gives you more options than serially connected units. The Asymmetrical Overdrive Circuit incorporated in the Boss OS-2 unit gives you sound similar to a large scale tube amp. Designed to give you hard and fantastic distortion, this guitar effect pedal also maintains the nuances of single-coil pick-ups. Boss OS2
I have used a few pedals and thought I would give this OS2 a try. You can adjust the distortion from non to very gritty. Yes I know that you can do that with most pedals, but what separates this one from the rest is the color knob which even gives my practice squire that rich tube amp sound . Yes boss did it again.

My new all around Fav
The Boss OS-2 Distortion Pedal is my new all around favorite distortion pedal! Has outstanding control of presence and tonal shaping, works great for guitar or bass. Covers ranges from colorful grunge to walin' screams and just about everything in between. Don't get me wrong it's not going to make a Squire through a 30w peavy sound like a US Strat with a Marshall stack, it's just not that kind of pedal. However, if you have the right stuff, it will give that stuff the gruffy, snarlly bite I want. This pedal is not for every situation or every player, but it offers a wide variety of chocies for most and you can't beat it for the price. It is not tubey, nor will it give you that Dime Bag crunch & whail. It does give a great deal of control over the sound that most players dig. So if ... The Boss OS-2 Distortion Pedal is my new all around favorite distortion pedal! Has outstanding control of presence and tonal shaping, works great for guitar or bass. It is overwhelming how many effects pedals there are. I was checking out demo videos and the person that did one for this pedal really played with his setup. He played the same basic sound blurb with eight or ten different setups and that sold me. This pedal takes over where solid state lead channels fall short. Leave your amp on clean and use the OS-2 to dial in the overdrive and distortion to suit your taste and cater to the style you're playing. Your knobs are: Level, Tone, Drive, and Color. I typically set the level to balance my setup so the volume is close with or without the pedal activated. I usually run the drive close to minimum and the color close to maximum. This gives your string bends that shearing type sound and adds some nice crunch to the power chords. I play everything ... It is overwhelming how many effects pedals there are. Tone and Distortion
Tone and Distortion: Frequencies sent through electronics; the frequencies distorted. You may have active or passive tone controls, or 1 tone knob. This is not just another Boss distortion. different tones, treble middle bass are distorted separately. The amount of distortion from a typical distortion all tones are distorted at one time. Treble and mids and bass will affect tone differently, in comparison to the Boss adaptive distortion where the treble mids and bass are sent through the electronics separately, the right amount of distorted signal for the right tones can be tailored to your needs, this is great with more emphasis on certain frequencies, this is the difference to compare and contrast the pedal. you can adjust it to get some regular, typical distortion too!!Tone and Distortion: Frequencies sent through electronics; the frequencies distorted. A future rare collectable.
It's no metal machine, and the distortion side of the pedal is no miracle, but the overdrive side is very nice. Another cool thing about this pedal is the blend feature. I like mixing the two using about 3/4 OD 1/4 distortion. I get a nicely textured overdrive out of it. It's a versatile pedal. One day some famous guy will use this pedal and it'll suddenly be a huge collectable. Sort of like Billy Corrigan and the Big Muff.
