    Old Hollywood on the Beach

    This is not a good movie, but it's entertaining if you accept the fact that it's a flawed period piece; old Hollywood trying to make sense of liberated women and a quickly changing moral landscape. A heavy-handed, wordy screenplay, and uneven cinematography, don't help. Great outdoor stuff, but overlit interior scenes, as was often the case in films from the sixties, influenced by television. Liz Taylor's character is compelling, but poor dialogue and a glitzy, glamorous handling of her appearance and lifestyle, make it all less than convincing. Serve it up with cocktails, and tongue firmly placed in cheek, and you might have some fun.
