The Prodigy meets Soviet lesbian chic.
Tatu are an example of some clever Eastern European marketing. They took the "free market" ethos of Western Capitalism that exploits their country to extreme ends and flipped it around to exploit naive Western music buyers. The group were a Western Record Company's wet dream - schoolgirl "lesbians" singing about their love for each other with a great futuristic, Prodigy-like soundtrack. Of course it was all an act - just like Marilyn Manson. But this act worked very well for them in both Europe and the USA until fans found out they had been "cheated". The "scandalous" imagery aside, this album boasts some great pop tunes, most notably the number one (and overplayed) "All The Things She Said", their attempt at Eurovision glory "Not Gonna Get Us" and even an impressive cover of The Smiths ... Tatu are an example of some clever Eastern European marketing. The fine production is of course down to experienced pop producer Trevor Horn who creates the perfect soundtrack for two girls who, admittedly aren't great singers and are obviously Soviets; but even the native language tunes are worth a listen. A recommended album if you ignore the "scandal" and hype, just enjoy the noise.

More russian please
Always on the look out for foreign language music, forgot all about Tatu, and listening to their russian is so much better than the english versions, but pretty good listening none the less.
