This is a really good book with a lot of helpful advice, and information. My only complaint and the reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is that it only offers instruction on front facing portraits. No helpful info on drawing faces from an angle. Like for instance, it says the iris and pupil of the eye will always be a perfect circle. But when drawing from an angle it can be more oval. Still a great book for your reference library. Just not the only one you will need.

A good face drawing book for someone going into police work, but most of the faces are of unattractive people and so not inspiring at all to draw. Technique-wise, The author/illustrator was an artist, and there are all the good, basic pointers for perspective in drawing human faces.

This book is awesome. I looked at many drawing books one day as I decided to begin a new hobbie. As I skimmed through books there was noticable differences. The things that set this book apart from the others was the fact that this book told you the best supplies to use to get the most out of your drawing such as paper and erasers and they DO make a difference. The second thing that I noticed about this book was that in many drawing books you see shapes that you must draw to create your image such as in the drawing books by Lee. This book teaches you how to see shapes in a face to make the face realistic rather than making a bunch of shapes after someone else's drawing. The third thing is that this book is also very easy to understand. It does an excellent job of explaining everything that you need to do to draw realistic faces. This is a booke that will stay on my shelf.Read full review
