This book is a must have not only for D&D Players but for writers. Did your character come from a family of hippies? What was the most important event in their childhood? What kind of school or teachers did they have? How does their family (not necessarily the character) feel about religion? This book asks the questions you ought to know about who your characters REALLY are. You may or may not want to get out your percentile dice and roll one up, but if you do, having to justify your information can give your story an unrelated and useful spin. If you are just reading the questions, you will get ideas and inspiration that add depth and beauty to your story and oh yeah, your RPG.
The book wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it gives a very nice concept for each base race and base class combination. The best part of the book has to be the background section at the end, if you are not the most creative with back stories for your characters or just having a dry spell when you make one you can just let the roll of the dice gives you inspiration.
