This book was recommended to me as a first time dog breeder as the 'must have book' It was indeed full of useful information although somewhat dated now the essential do and don'ts are there. The layout isn't that easy and I would find the bits I wanted in different, even unexpected areas but they are there and fulfilled the reason for buying the book. I didn't read it cover to cover as I had a specific reason for buying it but I would recommend. I was actually lent a copy but bought my own copy. The ESSENTIAL book for all bitch owners and anyone thinking of breeding!
This book was recommended to us by our vet as we were first time breeders. The Book of the Bitch has absolutely everything you need to know about owning/breeding a bitch. The book has up to date, modern information regarding whelping and pregnancy in dogs and I found it most useful while our dog was pregnant and during and after whelping. When one of our pups was stillborn I was able to revive her and had the knowledge to rear a healthy pup after reading up on this particular section of the book. I would recommend The Book of the Bitch to EVERY dog owner, and if you need to know anything about breeding dogs or the chemistry, anatomy and care of a bitch then this is definitely the book for you! Good reference book when breeding a litter
Bought as a replacement as I 'lost', probably lent, my copy. Useful book to have around when breeding a litter. It also has good tips for rearing a puppy of either sex.
